Sandra Bate
President and Chief Executive Officer of Bate’s Motor Home Rental Systems, Inc., Sandra Bate began her career in a grass roots way as a salesperson in the securities and insurance industry. Utilizing a spare bedroom as an office, Sandra used her skills in communications and marketing to develop a fleet of over 60 motor homes in six months. Today, her network extends to over 100 U.S. cities and 18 foreign countries.
In 1986, Sandra’s biography, selected as one of the most interesting entrepreneurs in the last 25 years, was included in Female Fortunes, by David Silver. In 1994, a Time-Life reference book, African American Voices in Triumph, chronicled Sandra’s life as an African-American female entrepreneur. Also, in 1994, she was the recipient of the Las Vega Chamber of Commerce Woman of Achievement Award for Travel/Tourism.
Sandra has also founded and developed the Ruth Taylor Williams Foundation, named in memory of her mother. It is designed to assist those who are displaced, disadvantaged and/or handicapped. “The Foundation offers resources to assist people 18 years of age or older to gain a vocational education, independence and the confidence so important in today’s society,” says Sandra. |
